This page is intended to provide guidance as you begin planning in-person events while we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Here you will find links to BU-issued policies as well as policies issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is required that all in-person meetings, events, or gatherings adhere to all university, city, and state issued policies and restrictions.   • In-person, on-campus events may not be open to the general public
  • Visitor participation must be approved by the Office of the Dean
  • Staff from the department planning the event must be present to strictly monitor attendees:
  • wearing a face covering at all times.
  • maintaining 6 feet of distance between each other
  • Classroom set-ups and furniture may not be moved or altered.
  • Outdoor event and gatherings must be condoned off with entry and exit egresses clearly marked.
  • If your event takes place on campus or in the City of Boston:
    • No more than 60 attendees may attend an in-person, indoor meeting, event, or gathering.
    • Outdoor events are limited to 100 attendees.
  • If your event takes place off campus or outside of in the City of Boston, in Massachusetts:
    • No more than 100 attendees may attend an in-person, indoor meeting, event, or gathering.
    • Outdoor events are limited to 150 attendees.
  • All event attendees must display a current, green status BU COVID compliance badge on their mobile device.
  • Outdoor events require a permit from the City of Boston which requires at least 30 days advance notice.
  • Catering is allowed from Catering on the Charles with restrictions outlined in the above BU-issued policy.
  • Until further notice, Boston University campus spaces, facilities, and buildings are open only for official University business and are not open to the general public.
