Failing to update a BU Alert number and local address every semester is the most common issue that keeps you out of compliance. In order to register for the Fall semester, you must be in compliance with all University policies, including meeting all immunization requirements, settling your student account, acknowledging the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Law, updating a local address, and having a current BU Alert number on record. To check your compliance status, click the purple “Personal” tab, and then select “Compliance Status.”
The Fall 2020 schedule is available via The Student Link. The Fall 2020 schedule PDF is the most up to date source of schedule information. Every effort is made to keep schedules accurate in the event of changes due to a switch in staffing, room, or cancellation due to low enrollment. If you sign up for a class that is ultimately cancelled, you will be notified via your BU email account.

Change to Executive Communication for PEMBAs
Please note the following important changes to your Executive Communication requirement. ES700 and ES701 will be gradually phased out and replaced with ES740, Leadership Communications, which is a 2 credit class.
Starting this fall, ES700 and ES701 will now both be numbered as ES700 and will be renamed as “Executive Communications”. It will replace ES700 and ES701 in Fall 2020 and will be offered next spring and possibly into the future if there continues to be the need. The new course will satisfy your communications requirement and will still be one-credit and pass/fail.
Please note that we are offering four sections of ES700 this summer and three sections in the Fall.

AC831 Integrated Reporting: Thu, 6:30-9:15pm
The course addresses sustainability reporting. We will examine the evolving protocols for such disclosure: Integrated Reporting, Sustainability Accounting Standards, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Carbon Disclosure Project, and the Global Reporting Initiative. Students will learn about the range of sustainability disclosures, develop an ability to think critically about them and gain knowledge about the challenges of implementing them.
ES700 Executive Communications: Consult University schedule for dates
Persuasion is an essential skill for business success, one that often differentiates the trajectory of a career. Whether the goal is to influence your colleagues and superiors, drive results in an organization, or motivate key stakeholders, the capacity to persuade diverse audiences is critical to effective leadership. In this course, students will learn to create and deliver compelling, high-impact verbal and written communications that inspire action. A key premise of this course is that communicating well requires thinking well. Students will learn to create persuasive arguments, generate insights with meaningful conclusions and recommendations, develop their unique leadership style to connect authentically with others, express complex information clearly in writing and with visual aids, and master presentation delivery.
FE833 ESG Equity Investing: Tue, 6:30-9:15pm
ESG Equity Investing is an introductory course that provides the appropriate tools to analyze and undertake investments in publicly listed companies taking into account the social impact of these financial decisions. Different dimensions of social impact – Environment, Social, and Governance – are discussed along with corresponding ESG metrics available to investors. The core of the course deals with the integration of (quantitative-based) portfolio allocation models with (qualitative-based) ESG scores and objectives. The course also discusses how impact investing may affect the behavior of firms, as well as alternative channels through which investors can provide impact (private investments, activism).
MK820 Consultative Selling (1.5 credits): Sat Oct 17, 24, 31, 9:00 am- 5:00 pm
This course covers the consultative selling approaches and skills required to lead complex sales programs. Selling complex products and services typically requires a long sales cycle, a sales/solution team collaboration, a high degree of interaction with the client team, and the development of custom solutions specific to each client. This course covers all aspects of consultative selling, and specific topics include strategies to help clients identify opportunities, qualify deals, recognize unrealized value, create solutions, develop marketing programs, build teams, deliver projects, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships. Students will interactively work to develop the personal skills and behaviors essential to success, and will learn strategies and behaviors to become a trusted advisor and valuable partner to clients.
MO833 Executive Compensation: Strategy and Practice: Aug 24-28, 9:00 am- 5:00 pm
This course will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the structure and governance of executive compensation programs and practices. The course material will draw upon the theory and research in executive compensation and explore current legislative and shareholder reform initiatives impacting executive pay. Our approach will be to view executive compensation from a multi-stakeholder perspective taking into account the interests of shareholders, institutional investors, advocacy groups, social activists, governmental regulators, employees, and executives. We will examine the linkages between executive compensation and business strategy, talent strategy, compliance with securities law, tax regulations, accounting standards, and principles of good corporate governance. We will also address current topics of gender pay equity, increasing pay inequality, and investor focus on the role of incentives in reinforcing organizational attention to environmental, social and governance issues (ESG). While the primary focus of the course will be on executive and management compensation, the theory and practice applicable to broad-based rewards programs will also be explored.
PL855 The Energy Sector: Structure, Markets, and Regulation: Thu, 3:30-6:15pm
This course is designed as a multi-dimensional approach to understanding the energy sector. This includes production, development, distribution, financing, and consumption relating to the two distinct sectors – Power Generation and Transportation, both domestically and internationally. For Power Generation, we will explore the fundamentals of Generation, Transmission (G&T), and Distribution as well as major feedstocks, including wind, solar, nuclear, natural gas, and coal. This includes an in-depth discussion of both challenges and opportunities inherent to altering the current system.

This class will focus on energy, retail and health care supply chains to look at sustainability (e.g., carbon footprint), public health and economic performance issues. In light of COVID-19, we will introduce roughly 25% new material (e.g., simulations), to address new technologies and supply chain policies for testing kits, medicines and essential food stock, both locally and globally.”
