Greenstein oversees work to substantially increase the number of students that acquire a postsecondary degree or certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining the Foundation, Greenstein was Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Programs at the University of California Office of the President, a role in which he acted as the director for UC Online Education \u2013 a new effort to integrate online education into the university\u2019s undergraduate curriculum, among other accomplishments.<\/p>\n<p>Greenstein has led, in some cases founded, several internet-based academic information services in the US (the California Digital Library) and the United Kingdom (the Arts and Humanities Data Service), and served on boards and acted in strategic consulting roles for educational, cultural heritage, and information organizations.<\/p>\n<p>He holds degrees from the Universities of Oxford (DPhil) and Pennsylvania (MA, BA) and began his professional life as a senior lecture in Modern History at Glasgow University.
