He has written extensively on technology strategy, particularly with reference to knowledge-intensive sectors (e.g. services, media, information technology, and telecommunications), and global innovation. Most recently, he has focused his research and teaching on cleantech and sustainability management, innovation in emerging economies, the professionalization and globalization of entrepreneurship and nurturing innovation ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, he served as Professor of Technology Management, Director of the Institute for Technology and Enterprise, Chair of the Department of Technology Management, Founding Director of the Othmer Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, and faculty director of the CleantechExecs Executive Program.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Horwitch was Visiting Professor at London Business School, Professor and Founding Dean of Management at Theseus Institute in Sophia Antipolis, France, the John M. Olin Distinguished Fellow at Templeton College, Oxford University and Visiting Professor at the University of Paris-Dauphine. He has served on the MIT-Sloan School and Harvard Business School faculties. He received his AB from Princeton University and MBA and Doctorate from Harvard Business School. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>His publications include\u00a0<i>Technology in the Modern Corporation: A Strategic Perspective<\/i>\u00a0(editor and contributor),\u00a0<i>Clipped Wings: The American SST Conflict<\/i>, contributor to<i>\u00a0Energy Future: Report of the Energy Project at the Harvard Business School<\/i>\u00a0(contributor), articles published in such journals as\u00a0<i>Management Science<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Policy Scienc<\/i>e,\u00a0<i>Sloan Management Review, Technology in Society<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Journal of Engineering and Technology Management,<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>Business Strategy International<\/i>, and several print and Web-based multimedia cases.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/questromworld.bu.edu\/businesseducationjam\/vip\/\">Back to VIP Guests<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<h4>Mel Horwitch, PhD<\/h4>\n<h6>Dean &amp;
