{"id":1026,"date":"2017-08-30T02:15:16","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T02:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/questromworld.bu.edu\/faculty\/?p=1026"},"modified":"2022-10-24T15:20:15","modified_gmt":"2022-10-24T15:20:15","slug":"fall-2017-syllabus-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/questromworld.bu.edu\/faculty\/2017\/08\/30\/fall-2017-syllabus-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall 2017 Syllabus Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-av_three_fourth-6126cab7d8fab8d08143dd2dacdf673c\">\n.flex_column.av-av_three_fourth-6126cab7d8fab8d08143dd2dacdf673c{\nborder-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\npadding:0px 0px 0px 0px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='flex_column av-av_three_fourth-6126cab7d8fab8d08143dd2dacdf673c av_three_fourth  avia-builder-el-0  el_before_av_one_fourth  avia-builder-el-first  first flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding  '     ><section  class='av_textblock_section av-av_textblock-396ddf1f42196ca838231e61a4602801 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Welcome (almost) to the Fall semester!\u00a0 I write to follow up on my <\/span><b>UG Syllabus Project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> email of May and to share some materials, which, I hope, will be useful as you prepare to post your syllabi for this Fall.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The UGPDC and Dean\u2019s Office reviewed the set of UG Required Course Syllabi over the summer with the aims of preparing for the General Education revisions, accommodating University Credit Hours Standards, and considering content, presentation, and Questrom academic standards.\u00a0 As a result of this effort, we have put together <\/span><b>(a) a suggested UG Syllabus Template<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><b>(b) a<\/b> <b>Syllabus Checklist<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, both of which are attached here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While each instructor should feel free to design a syllabus that works best for her course, we request that each Questrom UG Syllabus incorporate the features highlighted in the Checklist &amp; Template (e.g., <\/span><b>Course Policies, Course Learning Objectives, and Class Prep Questions or Daily Learning Objectives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">).\u00a0 We have attached a checklist that highlights key features, in the hope that it will be helpful.\u00a0 If you have a pedagogical objection to including daily class prep questions or daily learning objectives, feel free to omit those, although we think that these make sense for most courses.\u00a0 Lastly, we have attached a copy of the SI422 syllabus, which is far from a perfect syllabus, but which provides an example of a syllabus that includes the includes the features on the Template\/Checklist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We hope that these are helpful as you prepare to post your syllabus for the Fall.\u00a0 We look forward to extending the project during the coming academic year and may reach out to you about your particular course.\u00a0 If you have any questions or comments, please email me anytime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Many thanks,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jeff<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PS \u2013 Many thanks to the UG Required Course faculty for working with us on this over the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jeffrey L.
