Satisfactory Academic Progress Document Submission
Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards, as specified below, to be eligible for renewal of federal financial aid and credit-based loan certification. At the end of each Spring semester, an annual review of student’s SAP is conducted. A student’s failure to meet SAP standards may result in loss of federal or private financial aid eligibility.
Students who are denied Boston University, federal and/or state aid, or certification of a private loan because their academic performance falls short of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards, are welcome to appeal the decision to Questrom Graduate Financial Assistance. A student has the right to appeal the loss of financial aid eligibility due to extenuating circumstances that occurred during the previous academic year.
Notification detailing non-compliance with SAP standards will be visible on the MyBU portal.
In order to complete the SAP Appeal process, students will be required to submit…
- A Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form and Advisor approved academic plan
- A student statement/letter detailing the cause of for not meeting SAP
- Any additional supporting documentation
