MOD LIVE SESSIONS

Synchronous sessions are critical for both students and faculty as we develop relationships and our learning community. All types of synchronous sessions signal a clear commitment between faculty and students and will be scheduled far in advance for your planning, or when this is not possible, will allow for flexibility in scheduling and attendance.

MOD Live Sessions are held one day per week at two different times. In order to provide flexibility to our globally distributed cohort we will have a 7AM (EST) and then an 8PM (EST) session.

MOD 0 and MOD 1 Live Sessions will be held on Thursdays, but the day of the week may vary from MOD to MOD. These sessions will be 2 hours in duration and will be recorded so you can access the content if you had a disruption in your planned schedule to attend.

MOD Structure:

Each MOD lasts for one semester (14 weeks), is team taught by several faculty, and features a fully integrated curriculum. This means that while you won’t be taking a specific accounting or operations course, all the necessary content will be integrated into the MODs and delivered in the context of examining business problems.

Each MOD will have a combination of individual and team assignments, and the OMBA curriculum relies heavily on peer to peer learning. That means that you’ll be interacting with your team and MOD regularly and learning from each other as much as you learn from our faculty.

MOD 0

Mod 0 is a required, pass/fail module designed specifically for the OMBA program to introduce stimulating course content and provide critical learner resources needed for success in the program. Full and active participation in Mod 0 is mandatory.

You will not receive credit for MOD 0, nor be charged tuition. However, it is mandatory that you complete and pass this module. Failure to fulfill the requirements for MOD 0 will result in your inability to continue to MOD 1. Each week of MOD 0 will consist of both individual and team assignments, as well as live sessions.

Pre-asynchronous work will likely be available in early August and you can work on it anytime after the content launches. Information will be sent to your BU email in late-July with instructions on how to access the content and get started.

*Week-1 MOD 0 materials will launch on Friday, August 11 at 8am eastern time (ET)*– this mirrors the cadence and weekly learning journey you’ll follow in future MODs. At this point the program will officially begin.

Mandatory Live sessions MOD 0:
Thursday, August 17, 2023
Thursday, August 24, 2023

Please note, all dates are subject to change.

**You will need to check your BU email on Friday, August 11 for information about the launch of MOD 0 and how to access the content. This email will share the first week’s learning journey and information on how to access the technology and platforms**

MOD 1

In MOD 1, at least six out of the 14 MOD live sessions will focus on team outputs (e.g., synthesis of managerial trends, capstone assignments, etc.) where your team will be on live to present your output during an assigned AM or PM session. At least six of these live sessions are required for all students to attend, and each student will be required to serve as their team spokesperson during one of these live sessions. For planning purposes, these dates are listed below. You will be receive a pre-enrollment survey a few weeks before the program starts to identify your AM or PM attendance preference. This information will help us form the PODs and, eventually your team for MOD 0 and MOD 1. All students will be accountable for the content covered in the live sessions with your teams and at other times with more formal knowledge check-ins. This helps to facilitate more stimulating engagement and learning with the faculty, learning facilitator and your peers.

*Week-1 MOD 1 materials will launch on Friday, September 1 at 8am eastern time (ET)*– The first live of MOD 1, which is mandatory, will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023. MOD 1 will conclude on December 16, 2023 at 8pm. There will be at least 6 required lives throughout the semester (see dates below).

Mandatory Live sessions MOD 1:

Thursday, September 7, 2023
Thursday, September 14, 2023
Thursday, September 21, 2023
Thursday, November 30, 2023
Thursday, December 7, 2023
Thursday, December 14, 2023

Please note, all dates are subject to change.

The Weekly Learning Journey

Each Module in the Online MBA program is structured around the weekly learning journey, which gives you guidance on what to expect as each new week of content is released and to provide structure to how you’ll manage your time each week. You will see three phases in each week of the Module, outlined here.

Module Order and Offering Schedule

Modules are offered during the fall (late August/September-December), spring (January-May), and summer (May-August) semesters. Taking the modules in six consecutive semesters allows you to complete your MBA in as few as 24 months while attending part-time. Students are encouraged to take the modules in sequential order. Upon starting the Online MBA program as a matriculated student, you will complete Module 0 and Module 1. After completing MOD 1, students may take MOD 2 and MOD 3 in any order. Modules 4, 5, and 6 may be taken in any order, but only after completing Modules 0-3.
