Some of the most important information about a company can be found through researching: products and services, financials, structure and subsidiaries, mission, competition, recent articles, history, and analyst reports. There are several databases and resources that can be accessed to gain this information. Listed below are the most commonly used online resources that are available to you through the Pardee Library in the Questrom School of Business. To access these databases go to Handshake and click on “Career Resources: Pardee Library.” Then click on “Find Business Articles and Data: Career—Pre-Interview Research.”
1. ABI Inform: The Wall Street Journal, business and trade magazines, scholarly journals
- Click “ABI Inform”
- Enter company name
- Click “Search”
- Select relevant gray source tab
2. Datamonitor Reports: in Business Source Premier—SWOT analysis and competition, history, products and services.
- Enter company name in “Browse for”
- Click “Browse”
- For abstract information click on company name or for detailed information, click on
- “Datamonitor Report”
3. FACTIVA: Current news from newspapers, business and trade journals.
- Type name of company in Free Text box
- Adjust date and run search
- Sort by relevance
- Optional: Click on +Source and choose “Top Sources” or “Publications by Industry” from
4. Hoover’s Company Profiles: in LexisNexis—corporate structure and subsidiaries, management team, history, strategy, financials, competition, products.
- Enter company name or ticker
- Click “Search”
5. Investext Plus
- Click on “Investext Plus”
- Enter company name in Company Search
- Click “Search”
- Click on full page PDF
6. Mergent Online: history, financials, annual reports and 10-K reports, competition, management, products, strategy, structure.
- Click “Mergent Online”
- On the left click “enter mergent online”
- In Identifier, enter company name
- Click “Search”
- Then click on the company name
- Click “Annual Reports” or “EDGAR” tab
