Transfers from Outside BU

Overview

Questrom accepts transfer students for entry only in the fall semesters. Students transferring from institutions outside of Boston University have an average GPA of 3.5. Additionally, students must have completed a college-level calculus course or completed an AP/IB-level calculus course in high school and 1 year (2 semesters) of college to be eligible to transfer into Questrom. We do not take Freshman transfer students.

Microeconomics and macroeconomics courses in addition to other liberal arts coursework at your previous colleges will ensure you’ll be further along in our curriculum and have more time to focus on Hub and management coursework. Hub Units

Beginning Fall 2020, entering transfer students will follow a specially tailored Hub curriculum that builds on the coursework they have completed while assuring that they develop the capacities required of all BU graduates.

Transfer students take BU courses that fulfill units in each of the Hub areas below and must earn all 10 Hub units in order to graduate. More information on the Hub requirements for incoming transfer students can be found here.

Multiple Hub units can be fulfilled by AP/IB credit or will be completed by upper level required Questrom courses. In the form below some BU Hub general education unit lines are pre-populated by courses you will need to take as a Questrom student, highlighted Hub units distinguish areas AP/IB and/or Questrom courses will not fulfill.

Once a student has been accepted and paid the tuition deposit, they should be in contact with their assigned Questrom advisor. We will assist in course planning while taking into consideration the courses the student has or will complete at their current institution as well as any AP, IB or other credits a student may have completed prior to their acceptance to Boston University. *Not all concentrations can be completed in a single semester. Please discuss your concentration plans with your academic advisor as early as possible so that you know if you will need more than one semester to complete your chosen concentration.

Transfer of Credit

Transfer students will need to obtain approval for each course from the offering department by working with Transfer Admissions. Students will need to collect and submit all their course syllabi to Transfer Admissions. Courses may be accepted as specific Boston University courses, as courses in specific departments, but without an equivalent (for example CAS HI 1XX), as general electives that can count towards the 133 required credits for graduation, or some courses may not be accepted to Boston University. Some courses you have taken may already be in our system. You can check to see if your previous University has classes listed here.

Please note that business courses taken at another institution will initially only transfer to Boston University as electives. Our college requires all specific business courses for Questrom students be appealed through the Business Course Transfer Equivalency Appeal Form.
