The center is a support hub that celebrates and fosters the success of first-generation students at Boston University. If you\u2019d like to meet with similar students, the Newbury Center offers events and resources to help ease the transition from high school to college. The Newbury Center defines first-generation college students as those in the first generation of their families to go to college\u2013i.e. students whose parents\/guardians\/caregivers did not earn bachelor\u2019s degrees, although elder siblings and cousins may be attending college already or have earned four-year degrees.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/today\/2018\/minority-connection-initiative\/\">Minority Connection Initiative<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a student-founded organization that strives to build engaging and lasting relationships between minority students, faculty, and staff to provide support and unity within the BU community.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Religious Life at BU is overseen by Marsh Chapel and students are encouraged to join a community where they feel supported during their time at BU. The group does advocacy on campus and in the surrounding community in pursuit of full equality and inclusion of women, queer, and trans students and people.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/globalprograms\/compass\/\">Compass<\/a> was created for the international community by BU Global Programs, and serves as a guide to university-wide support resources.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/disability\/\">Disability &amp; Access Services<\/a> provides services and support to ensure that students are able to access and participate in the opportunities available at Boston University.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/thurman\/\">Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground (HTC)<\/a> is your campus living room.
