Private Educational Loans
For Domestic Students (U.S. citizens and permanent residents):
For domestic students who need financing beyond what is available through the federal student loan programs, we offer a list of recommended loans and lenders here.
A co-signer with a strong credit history will increase your chances of being approved for an alternative/supplemental loan.
We use the following criteria in developing our list of recommended loans and lenders:
- Loan terms and cost to borrower
- Borrower benefits
- Differentiated options (fixed rate versus variable rate loans, for-profit versus nonprofit organizations, regional versus national lenders)
You are in no way limited to loans/lenders on our list of options. Boston University will process a loan from any lender, and it is your right to apply for loans through the lender of your choice.
Be sure to use the budget calculator below to estimate how much you may need to borrow for living costs.
For International Students:
Unfortunately, private loans are only available to international students who are enrolled in a full-time program. The Online MBA is a part-time, online- only program and so no private loans are available. As an international student, your options for financing the degree are to enroll in a payment plan or obtain a loan from your home country.
