Message from Dean Elmore Regarding Student Support Regarding Residences

March 18, 2020

From Kenneth Elmore, Associate Provost & Dean of Students

The following was sent to students on the morning of Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

Yesterday, you received a message from President Brown asking you to leave Boston University housing by no later than Sunday, March 22, or earlier, if possible. By now, you should have received an e-mail message from Residence Life and Housing with details on checking-out of your residence, including what to do if you are unable to take all of your belongings with you now, or if you are currently away from campus, and unable to return to campus for your personal belongings.

Our goal is to support you during this extraordinary moment where schedules and timetables are constantly changing and a great deal of uncertainty remains. If you need flexibility, please ask the Residence Life staff. I have spoken with the Residence Life and Housing leadership and can assure you that we will be flexible with your personal and class schedule to move out of your residence, to pack up and store your belongings or time to make a fuller set of plans. And, if you are currently away from campus, you do not need to come back now – within the message from Residence Life and Housing you will be able to signal us to follow up with you with information on how we can work with you to get your personal belongings.

This is a time of true disruption for us all. Although it is difficult, please make your personal health and your classes your highest priorities. And, ask for flexibility and our patience, as you need it.

Much strength to you as you go forward,
