Required Questrom Courses

The centerpiece of the Questrom curriculum is the Cross-Functional Core Project or “Core.” Students work in teams across the disciplines of finance, marketing, operations management, and business analytics to develop a product or service, and create a full-fledged business plan.

When planning your first and second years at Questrom, keep the flowchart below in mind. While there is some flexibility with timing and electives, you must complete all of the following courses before you can take Core:

• QM221 Probabilistic and Statistical Decision-Making for Management
• QM222 Modeling Business Decisions and Market Outcomes or BA222 Modeling Business Decisions & Market Outcomes with Spreadsheets & Statistical Programming
• SM131 Business Ethics & the Creation of Value
• SM132 Measuring Financial Value
• SM275 Management Communications
• CAS EC101 Introductory Microeconomic Analysis
• CAS EC102 Introductory Macroeconomic Analysis
• CAS MA121 Calculus for the Life & Social Sciences I
• CAS WR120 First-Year Writing Seminar

You will also take other business courses such as, AC222- Managerial Accounting, LA245- Introduction to Law, and IS223- Introduction to Information Systems, which can be taken before or after Core. Courses such as SI422- Strategy, Innovation, and Global Competition, and your concentration courses are taken after Core.

As a note: Students cannot take the following CAS statistics courses: MA 113, MA 115, MA 116, MA 213, MA 214, EC 203, EC 204, EC 303, EC304, EC 305, & PS 211 as the material in these courses is covered in QST QM 221, QM 222, and BA222.
