Curriculum Overview for Students Entering the Questrom School of Business Fall 2019 and After as Freshmen
The Questrom School of Business curriculum is balanced between a core of requirements and a broad variety of electives. Our aim is to provide a cohesive learning experience that enables students to develop competence with flexibility. For students who begin as freshmen in Fall 2019, they will engage in a year-long foundational program through SM131 and SM132, where they will be enrolled with the same classmates in both classes across the fall and spring semester, with common learning experiences in both classes. In addition, this will be achieved through the Boston University Hub, a University-wide general education program that helps to develop six essential capacities — knowledge, skills, and habits of mind — that will equip them to thrive in their personal, professional, and civic lives.
Through coursework at Questrom and across Boston University, students select courses to meet their personal and academic goals while simultaneously meeting general education and Questrom-specific requirements.
For students who begin in Fall 2019 as transfer students from other universities, the foundational program of SM131 and SM132 will be taken simultaneously, and students will be enrolled with the same classmates in both classes in the fall, with common learning experiences in both classes.
Hub requirements are described in extensive detail here.
You can review how the required Questrom curriculum satisfies Hub requirements using this chart and search for classes by Hub area using this helpful search tool.
