Scholarships

Merit Scholarships
- Boston University Questrom School of Business awards generous merit scholarships to the most highly qualified residential program candidates
- Merit based scholarships are awarded and notified at the point of admission, and are determined solely by Questrom Graduate Admissions
- Merit based & Endowed scholarships are funded by Boston University or private-benefactors/organizations associated with Boston University
- Questrom Graduate Admissions considers all admitted candidates (domestic & international) for merit scholarship awards – no separate or additional scholarship application is required for eligibility
- Once matriculated into BU, merit scholarships are set for the duration of one’s program

Full-Time MBA + Dual Degrees + MSDT

If awarded a scholarship by Questrom Graduate Admissions, one’s scholarship will be evenly split between the Fall and Spring semesters.

MSDT students may be awarded an additional scholarship that will be applied to one’s required MSDT summer semester.

Questrom merit scholarships are renewable, assuming the student maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress.

If awarded a scholarship by Questrom Graduate Admissions, one’s scholarship will be split 80% and 20%

80% of the scholarship will be split evenly between Fall (40%) and Spring (40%)

The remaining 20% of the scholarship will be awarded entirely in the Summer or following Fall semester, depending on one’s MSBA track (12-months or 16-months)

Questrom merit scholarships are renewable, assuming the student maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Private Scholarships
- Private scholarships are financial awards that do not need to be repaid and are funded by private entities, such as corporations, foundations, and community groups
- Private scholarships can range in amount and are awarded based on a variety of criteria, such as: academic achievements, affiliation with certain groups, and career aspirations
- Each scholarship has its own eligibility criteria, requirements, and deadline
- Applicants must report any private scholarships they receive to the Graduate Admissions & Financial Aid Office

Effects of an Outside Award on Your Financial Aid

Federal regulations require that your total financial aid not exceed your demonstrated financial eligibility. You must promptly inform BU Financial Assistance in writing of any additional award you receive from any source, either within or outside of Boston University.

Tuition Benefits

If you receive an additional award from outside Boston University, your need-based aid will be reduced only if your total aid, from all sources, exceeds your demonstrated financial eligibility. Any reduction will be made to self-help (need-based student loan, or Federal Work-Study) first, and to grant only if the outside award exceeds your total self-help.

If you receive any additional award from another entity within Boston University, your need-based grant will be reduced by the amount of that award.

Fellowships
- Fellowships are competitive awards that provide financial support and opportunities for personal, academic, and professional development
- They can be sponsored by organizations, institutions, or governments, and can last from a few weeks to a few years
- Fellowships may provide funding for portions of graduate study or even for travel and/or independent research not tied to a degree program
- Fellowships are available to students at all academic levels, and typically require detailed applications and require essays, letters of recommendation, and academic proposals
