Printing at Questrom
Questrom provides printing options for students, PhD students, faculty, and staff. Choose your role to find the right print queue, available locations, and setup instructions.

Choose Your Printing Option
Printing at Questrom works differently depending on your role. Start with the option that applies to you.
Student Printing
Undergraduate and graduate Questrom students use the QST-QUOTA-PRINTERS queue and receive a Questrom printing quota for the academic year.
PhD Printing
PhD students receive the graduate Questrom print quota and can also access dedicated PhD printers in Rooms 531 and 624.
Faculty & Staff Printing
Faculty and staff can connect to Questrom network printers and copiers located throughout the Hariri Building.
STUDENTS
Student Printing
Questrom undergraduate and graduate students can send print jobs to QST-QUOTA-PRINTERS and release them at designated Questrom printers. Your Questrom print quota is separate from the BU MyPrint quota.

400 pages
Per academic year.
Graduate Quota
2,200 pages
Per academic year. Applies to FTMBA, PEMBA, MSBA, MSMFT, MSMS, and PhD students
Questrom Printer Locations
Rooms 328 + 427
Questrom student printers, including the Open Access Lab in Room 328.
Your Quota Covers the Academic Year
Your full Questrom print allocation is added at the beginning of the fall semester and does not replenish for the spring semester.
Double-Sided Printing Counts Per Side
Questrom print quota is deducted for each printed side. A double-sided sheet therefore uses two pages of your quota.
Questrom Minors Are Not Included
Students pursuing a Questrom minor do not receive a Questrom print quota. Eligibility is based on your official school affiliation in the BU system.
Need to Print in Color? Color printing is available in the Open Access Lab, Room 328, for $0.25 per page. Color printing is not deducted from your Questrom or MyPrint quota and is paid separately using cash or Convenience Points.
PHD STUDENTS
Additional Printing for PhD Students
PhD students receive the standard 2,200-page graduate Questrom quota and can also connect to dedicated PhD printers.

PHD SETUP
Set Up PhD Printing
Connect each computer you plan to print from. If you are off campus, connect to the BU VPN before connecting to the Questrom print server. PhD students can install the dedicated printers in Rooms 531 and 624 or use the standard Questrom quota queue.

Windows
Connect to the print server
Open Run and enter \\qstprintquota.ad.bu.edu, then select OK.
Authenticate
If prompted, sign in using your BU username in AD\username format and your Kerberos password.
Install a printer
Double-click the printer you want to install. Windows will download the available driver; approve the installation if prompted.
Available queues
Install QSTPRTPHD531, QSTPRTPHD624, or QST-Quota-Printers depending on where you want to print.
MAC
Open printer settings
Open your Mac’s printer settings and choose the option to add a printer.
Add an Advanced printer
Use the Advanced printer setup and choose the Windows/SMB printer type.
Enter the printer address
smb://qstprintquota.ad.bu.edu/printername, replacing printername with the Questrom printer queue you want to install.Example: smb://qstprintquota.ad.bu.edu/QSTPRTPHD531.
Complete setup
Give the printer a recognizable name, select the appropriate available PostScript driver, and enable duplex printing when prompted.
Authentication problem? If you cannot authenticate to the print server, contact Questrom Tech for assistance.
FACULTY & STAFF
Faculty & Staff Printing
Questrom faculty and staff can connect to network printers and multifunction copiers located throughout 595 Commonwealth Avenue.
Find Your Printer
Questrom maintains network printers and copiers throughout the building. Use the printer directory to find the queue name associated with your location.
Add a Printer
Connect your computer to the Questrom print server and install the network printer or copier you need.
Printing From Off Campus?
Connect to the BU VPN before connecting to a Questrom print server from an off-campus network.

Add a Questrom Printer
Faculty and staff can connect to the Questrom print server and install the printer or copier they need. If you are off campus, connect to the BU VPN first.

Connect to the server
Open Run and enter \\qstprint.ad.bu.edu.
Sign in if prompted

Find your printer
Locate the printer queue you want using the Questrom Printer Directory above.
Install the printer
Double-click the queue to install it. If Windows asks whether you trust the source or want to install the driver, approve the installation.
MAC
Open printer settings
Open your Mac’s printer settings and choose the option to add a printer.
Use Advanced setup
Add the printer using the Windows/SMB printer type.
Enter the queue address
smb://qstprint.ad.bu.edu/printername, replacing printername with the queue from the directory above.Example: smb://qstprint.ad.bu.edu/QSTPRT342
Finish installation
Give the printer a recognizable name, select the appropriate available PostScript driver, and enable duplex printing when applicable.
Adding more than one printer? Repeat the installation process for each Questrom printer or copier you need.
KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
Questrom Printing vs. BU MyPrint
Questrom printing and BU MyPrint are separate printing services. If you’re a Questrom student, you may have access to both.
Questrom Printing
Questrom printing uses school-specific print queues and a separate Questrom print quota. Student printing is available through designated Questrom printers in the Hariri Building.
BU MyPrint
MyPrint is BU’s University-wide printing service, with its own print allocation and supported printer locations across campus.

Where can students print?
Questrom students can release print jobs in Room 328, including the Open Access Lab, and Room 427.
How much can students print?
Undergraduate students receive 400 pages per academic year. Graduate students, including PhD students, receive 2,200 pages per academic year.
What if I use all of my Questrom print quota?
Students who need additional pages can purchase more printing quota in Room 328 using cash or Convenience Points.
I sent a print job, but nothing printed. What should I do?
Check that you selected the correct Questrom printer or queue and that your computer is connected to the BU network or VPN. If the job still does not print, contact Questrom Tech for help.
