Which Wi-Fi Should I Use?
BU provides different wireless options depending on your affiliation. Choose the network below that best fits your situation.
Eduroam
STUDENTS · FACULTY · STAFF
BU’s recommended secure wireless network for members of the University community. Once configured, your device can also use eduroam at participating institutions worldwide.
BU Guest
VISITORS & GUESTS
Visiting BU without a University account? BU Guest provides Internet access for visitors using the University’s wireless network.

Connecting to eduroam
Setup only takes a few steps. Once connected, your device should remember the network and reconnect automatically when eduroam is available.

Select eduroam
Open your device’s Wi-Fi settings and select eduroam from the available networks.

Enter Your BU Email
Sign in using your full BU email address: login@bu.edu

Enter Your Password
Enter the Kerberos password associated with your BU account.

Complete Setup
If prompted to accept a certificate during setup, follow BU’s device-specific instructions.

eduroam is a global wireless service for the research and education community. Your BU credentials can keep you connected beyond campus.

Use your BU credentials to connect to eduroam at participating universities and institutions worldwide.
Automatic Connection
Once your device is configured, it can automatically connect when you visit another participating institution.
Useful Information
Away from BU?
You can use eduroam with your BU credentials at participating institutions, but some BU resources may still require the BU VPN when you’re off campus.
Having Trouble Connecting?
If your device was previously configured for eduroam at another institution, it may still be using the old institution’s settings or credentials. Forget the existing eduroam network, then reconnect using your full BU email address and BU password.

Visitors who don’t have BU credentials can use the BU Guest wireless network for Internet access.

BU Guest is intended for visitors who need Internet access while on campus.

Quick Answers
Which Wi-Fi should BU students, faculty, and staff use?
Use eduroam. It is BU’s recommended secure wireless network for students, faculty, and staff.
Can I use eduroam at another university?
Yes. Your BU credentials can connect you to eduroam at participating institutions worldwide, and your configured device can reconnect automatically.
What Wi-Fi should visitors use?
Visitors without BU credentials should connect to BU Guest (unencrypted) for Internet access. Visitors from institutions that participate in eduroam may also be able to connect using their home institution credentials.
Why can I connect to eduroam but not access a BU resource?
Some BU resources require you to be physically on campus and connected with your BU credentials. When using eduroam away from BU, certain resources may require the BU VPN.
