LAPTOP SUPPORT

Need a Laptop Temporarily?

Laptop options depend on your situation. Questrom maintains a limited exam-only option for students, while BU IS&T offers a separate short-term student loan program for broader academic needs.

Taking an Exam at Questrom?

Questrom maintains a limited number of laptops for students who need a computer for an exam taking place at the time of checkout.

These laptops are not general-purpose or overnight loaners.

Bring your BU ID. Availability is limited.

Need a Laptop for Longer?

BU IS&T offers a separate short-term laptop loan program for actively enrolled students who are unable to use their own computer for academic wor.k
Laptop loans may be requested for a duration of up to 14 days. One extension for up to 7 additional days may be requested, but is subject to review and will be granted based on supply availability.
Laptops may be checked out and returned by the borrower at the IT Help Center’s West Campus location at 179 Amory St during standard operating hours. Please see the IT Help Center’s Hours & Location page for more information.

Faculty & Staff

If your assigned BU computer is being repaired, a temporary loaner may be available while your device is out of service. Contact Questrom IT for assistance.

Questrom students can rent lockers in the Hariri Building for the full academic year.

Bring your BU ID. After the beginning-of-year locker sale, rentals are handled through the Open Access Lab in HAR 328.
Cash or Convenience Points are accepted.

Quick Answers

Where can I charge my device?

Free electronic-device charging stations are available in the Open Access Lab and the second-floor student lounge area. Bring your BU ID to use the charging station.

Can I borrow a Questrom laptop?

Questrom student loaner laptops are reserved for students who need a computer for an exam taking place at the time of checkout. Pick up shortly before the exam and return the laptop immediately afterward. Overnight loans are not available.

What if I need a laptop for more than an exam?

BU IS&T operates a separate short-term student laptop loan program for eligible students who cannot use their own computer for academic work.

Are accessibility and assistive technology resources available?

Yes. BU Disability & Access Services provides accommodations, support, and assistive technology resources based on individual needs.
