About – 2015 Health & Life Sciences Conference

Our Mission

The Health and Life Science Conference is the culmination of the efforts of Questrom School of Business students in the Health Sector Management MBA program. The aim of the conference is to elevate the level of discussion based around the ever-changing needs and trends of the health sector, to bring experts of the field together, and to foster a more collaborative and unifying conversation.

We hope this conference invigorates the current leaders of the health sector and excites the future leaders to come together to address the challenges and the opportunities in this constantly evolving field.

Our Team

Deepak Patil

Deepak Patil

Conference Co-Chair

Deepak is a second year dual-degree MS-MBA student, concentrating in Health Sector Management and Information Systems. In the past, he graduated from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and worked as a primary care physician in India. Prior to coming to BU, Deepak worked as a Medical Advisor at Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd in the Infertility and Gynecology portfolios. This summer, he interned at Boston MedTech Advisors, a Management Consulting firm with a focus on Medical Devices.

Nina Waldron

Nina Waldron

Conference Co-Chair

Nina is a second-year full-time BU MBA/MPH student in the Health Management and Policy program, concentrating in Health Sector Management at the Questrom School of Business, and will complete medical school following her graduation from the Master’s programs. Nina graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience and Public Health. Following her graduation from Smith, she worked at Massachusetts General Hospital for three years managing the R.H. Ackerman Neurovascular Laboratory, a division of ultrasound and neuroradiology. Her 2015 summer internship was at Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association; she served as a quality intern educating independent practices on appropriate risk coding and documentation practices, specifically within Tufts Medicare Advantage Plans.

Cassandra Bannos

Cassandra Bannos

Cassandra is a second year dual MBA/MPH student. She graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering Science. Prior to coming to BU, Cassandra worked in medical diagnostics and healthcare delivery. This summer, Cassandra completed an internship at Biogen, where she worked in competitive intelligence and strategy decision support. Cassandra is also the President of the Health Sector Management Club.

Kimberly Gomes

Kimberly Gomes

Kim graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelor in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Public Health Science. She is currently a full time second year student getting a MBA/MPH degrees at BU. Prior to starting the program, Kim worked at Massachusetts General Hospital at a primary care clinic as a Patient Services Coordinator. This summer Kim interned with Blue Shield of California as a Quality Improvement Intern with their HMO ACO lines of business analyzing provider and membership engagement and developing a tracking tool for new quality measures.

Sreeram Mullankandy

Sreeram Mullankandy

Sreeram completed an internship with Analogic Corporation as a Global Marketing Intern, working on Value Proposition of Product Pipeline in Ultrasound space. Prior to attending Boston University, he worked as a remote site physician in the offshore construction industry with Kreuz Subsea Pte Ltd, in offshore drilling industry with Transocean Ltd, and as a teaching doctor in AIMS School of Medicine. He has practiced in 6 countries across South East Asia and Middle East. Sreeram’s career interests are Health sector consulting, entrepreneurship, and enjoys pro-bono consulting opportunities for non-profits. Sreeram hails from Wayanad, Kerala, India, which is part of Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the eight "hottest hotspots" of biological diversity in the world.

Elena Petrova

Elena Petrova

Elena is a second-year full-time BU MBA student concentrating on Health Sector Management. Elena graduated from University of Magdeburg with B.S. in Management Information Systems and from University of Amsterdam with M.S. in Business Economics. Before joining Boston University, Elena worked for Eli Lilly in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her summer internship was at PwC as a Senior Associate Intern in Management Consulting for the Health Industries Advisory practice.

Kevin Terhorst

Kevin Terhorst

Kevin is a second-year student in the dual-degree MS-MBA program, concentrating in Health Sector Management and Information Systems. Kevin has experience managing projects in Internet and cloud-based software industries, including Electronic Medical Records and telemedicine. He completed an internship with Kaiser Permanente’s internal Consulting Services organization. Kevin is also the Vice President of the Health Sector Management Club.

Frank Wood

Frank Wood

Frank is a second-year full-time BU MBA in the Health Sector Management program. He graduated with a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Vermont and most recently worked for Leerink Partners, a boutique Investment Bank focused in the Healthcare sector. There, he worked in both Equity Research and Project Management functions. His summer internship was at Genzyme as a Global Marketing intern in their Fabry Rare Disease division.
