Martin Nisenholtz, Former Chief Digital Officer, The New York Times Company

Martin is a Venture Partner at Firstmark Capital in New York and an Adjunct Professor at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. He recently completed a Fellowship at the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, where he co-developed Riptide: An Oral History of the Epic Collision between Journalism and Digital Technology, 1980 to the Present (www.digitalriptide.org).  Martin currently serves on the boards of PostMedia Networks (PNC/A), Yellow Media (Y:CN), Exelate, Sulia and RealMatch. He is an advisor to Carmel Ventures and the Online Publishers Association.

From 1995-2012, Martin managed digital operations for The New York Times Company and was the founding leader at nytimes.com in 1996.  In 1983, Martin founded the Interactive Marketing Group (IMG) at Ogilvy & Mather. IMG was the first digital agency at a major US advertising firm.  In 2002, Martin founded the Online Publishers Association, today the leading trade association among quality content providers. Martin began his career as a research scientist and assistant professor at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP). He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA from Penn’s Annenberg School for Communication, where he serves on the Alumni Board.

Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño, Dean of IE Business School and the President of IE University

Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño is the Dean of IE Business School and the President of IE University. He holds a Degree in Law and a Ph.D. in Moral Philosophy and Jurisprudence (Complutense University, Spain) and an MBA (IE Business School). He was a Recognized Student at Oxford University, UK.

Iñiguez has worked as a management consultant and has played an active role in the field of quality control and development of management education in Europe. He is the Chairman of GFME (Global Foundation for Management Education) and Chairman of the European Advisory Council of AACSB International, He serves on the boards of CENTRUM (Universidad Católica, Perú),Antai Business School (Jiao Tong University, China), Renmin University Business School (China) and Mazars University (France), FGV-EASP. Fundaçao Getulio Vargas (Brazil). He was portrayed by the Financial Times as “one of the most significant figures in promoting European business schools internationally”. Iñiguez is also President of the IE Fund in the US.

Iñiguez is Professor of Strategic Management at IE Business School. His book, “The Learning Curve: How Business Schools Are Reinventing Education” (https://thelearningcurvebook.com ), published in 2011, deals with the future challenges of management education. He is co-editor of www.deanstalk.net, a blog focused on management education issues. Iniguez is a regular speaker at international conferences and frequently contributes in different journals and media on higher education and executive development. ​

Ambi M.G. Parameswaran, PhD, Advisor, FCB Ulka Advertising

Ambi as he is known, is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Madras (Indian Institute of Technology) and a Management Graduate from IIM Calcutta (Indian Institute of Management).  In a career spanning three decades he has handled assignments in marketing, sales and advertising with companies like Rediffusion DY&R, Boots Company and UDI Yellow Pages before dropping anchor at FCB Ulka Advertising over two decades ago.  He has had a key role in the transformation of Ulka Advertising into FCB Ulka Group, one of India’s top three marketing communication group, with interests in advertising, media, consulting, digital, and healthcare. He has worked on numerous brands including Digene, Brufen, Santoor Soap, Sundrop Cooking Oil, TCS, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Tata Indica Cars, Zee TV among others, covering diverse categories such as automotives, healthcare, telecom, FMCG, corporate etc.

Ambi has been contributing articles to premier business publications, has conducted seminars and branding workshops for Indian/ MNC organizations and industry bodies. He has been a speaker at international forums including the Kellogg India Conference at Northwestern University and Cornell University; he has also been a guest faculty at several business schools including Indian School of Business and his alma mater, IIMC. He has also presented papers at international conferences of Association for Consumer Research and INFORMS.

Ambi now has seven books to his credit including: “FCB-Ulka Brand Building Advertising – Concepts and Cases”; “Building Brand Value – Five Steps to Building Powerful Brands” (Winner of 2007 NTPC – DMA Book Prize), and “For God’s Sake – An adman on the Business of Religion” (the last book was inspired by his research on “Religion and Consumer Behaviour”)

Ambi is involved in several industry organizations such as CII, IAA and has served as the President of Advertising Club Bombay. He successfully completed his PhD from Mumbai University in 2012, and the Advanced Management Programme from Harvard Business School in 2014. He was inducted into the Board of Governors of IIMC in 2007 and he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Madras in April 2009. Ambi was elected as the President of the apex advertising industry body, the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) in July 2014.

Michael Schrage, Research Fellow, MIT Sloan School’s Center for Digital Business

Michael Schrage examines the various roles of models, prototypes, and simulations as collaborative media for innovation risk management. He has served as an advisor on innovation issues and investments to major firms, including Mars, Procter & Gamble, Google, Intel, BT, Siemens, NASDAQ, IBM, and Alcoa.

In addition, Schrage has advised segments of the national security community on cyberconflict and cybersecurity issues. He has presented workshops on design experimentation and innovation risk for businesses, organizations, and executive education programs worldwide. Along with running summer workshops on future technologies for the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment, he has served on the technical advisory committee of MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory. In collaboration with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Schrage helped launch a series of workshops sponsored by the Department of Defense on federal complex systems procurement. In 2007, he served as a judge for the Industrial Designers Society of America’s global International Design Excellence Awards.

Schrage authored the lead chapter on governance in complex systems acquisition in Organizing for a Complex World (CSIS 2009). He has been a contributor to such prestigious publications as the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal,strategy+business, IEEE Software, and the Design Management Journal. In his best-selling book,Serious Play (Harvard Business School Press, 2000), Schrage explores the culture, economics, and future of prototyping. His next book, Getting Beyond Ideas (Wiley), is forthcoming in 2010.

Dr. Lee is Chairman of Next and Partners. Currently, he serves as President of UNGC Korea Network.

He served Samsung for 30 years. He led disruptive transformation of Samsung Group as Head of New Management Team at Samsung Chairman’s Office, and then he became President and CEO of Samsung Corporation.

Thereafter, he founded Homeplus, a joint venture company between Samsung and Tesco in 1997 and became the first President and CEO. He led the unprecedented level of growth at Homeplus, moving to the leading position from the 12th, very last position in only 5 years. He created innovative store formats such as the world’s first “virtual store.” In 2003, he became Chairman of Homeplus; Tesco Academy; and eParan Foundation.

He has been a Board Member of HSDM at Harvard University since 2004. He is ajoint head professor for CEO Sustainability Management Forum at Seoul National University, adjunct professor at Yonsei University, and endowed-chair professor Seoul Cyber University.

In 2013, as a visiting scholar and Executive-in-Residence (EIR) at Boston University, he led roundtable sessions for 6months to discuss and explore “the Essence of Management” in depth with a group of senior professors.

He holds Honorary Ph.D. in Business Management and Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Engineering.

He received the Best CEO Award and the Most Creative CEO Award in Korea, as well as the Order of Industrial Service Merit for management innovation and the Order of Civil Merit for eco-friendly management from the Korean government. He also received the Commander of the order of the British Empire (CBE) from Queen Elizabeth II.

Jitendra Singh is currently Michael Jebsen Professor of Business and Management and Dean, School of Business and Management at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong. He moved to Hong Kong after a long career at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, USA.

From 2007-2009, he was Dean of the Nanyang Business School (NBS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, one of the leading science and technology universities in Asia Pacific. During this period, he was Shaw Foundation Chair and Professor of Strategy, Management and Organization at Nanyang Business School. In addition, at the university level, he was a member of the University Cabinet of NTU, and Chief Adviser, India Strategy to the President of NTU. At the end of his term as Dean of Nanyang Business School (NBS), their MBA program was ranked #24 in the 2009 Financial Times rankings, and was rated as one of the leaders in the Asia Pacific region.

He has been a faculty member at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, since 1987 where he was the Saul P. Steinberg Professor in the Department of Management before moving to HKUST. During 1998-2001, he was Vice Dean, International Academic Affairs. In his Vice Dean role, he was a member of Wharton’s core administrative leadership team and was charged with shaping and implementing the global strategy of Wharton. These efforts culminated, in part, in the worldwide alliance between Wharton and INSEAD, the foundation of Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India and the creation of Singapore Management University in Singapore. Earlier, he was Director of the Emerging Economies Program at Wharton from 1996-98. From 1991-1995, he was Research Director, Entrepreneurship at the Sol C. Snider Entrepreneurial Center at Wharton, the leading research center in entrepreneurship at any US business school.

He moved to Wharton in 1987 from University of Toronto, Canada where he was an Associate Professor (with tenure) in the (now) Rotman School of Business. In 1991, he received an M.A. (honoris causa) from University of Pennsylvania. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford Business School in 1983. His earliest education was in natural and mathematical sciences and he received his B.Sc. (Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics) from Lucknow University, India. Subsequently, he received his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India. He worked as a line manager at Voltas Ltd., a Tata group company, in India for three years before coming to the US for his Ph.D.

His research and teaching interests focus on strategy and organization, with a specific current interest in emerging multinationals and business leadership in India.
